Blackboard Test Feedback Options

Test feedback options in Blackboard determine the type of results that users receive after a test is submitted.

To update your result and feedback options, go to a content area within your Blackboard course and locate a deployed test or quiz.

Click the drop-down arrow next to the test name and select Edit the Test Options.

In Section 6 of the Test Options screen, you will see the available options. Click the check box associated with the option to select it.

You may set up to two rules to show results and feedback. Each rule has two parts: when the feedback will be displayed and what feedback will be displayed.

If conflicts in rules occur, the most permissive settings for that user or groups of users is granted. For example, students would receive the greatest number of attempts, longest availability time, and so on.

When & What Options

 When Options are:

  • After Submission
  • One-time View
  • On Specific Date
  • After Due Date
  • After Availability End Date
  • After Attempts are Graded

What Options are:

  • Score: Shows the score a student achieved out of points possible.
  • All Answers: Shows all answer options.
  • Correct: Shows the answers a student answered correctly.
  • Submitted: Shows all of a student’s submitted answers.
  • Feedback: Shows instructor-generated feedback messages for each question.
  • Show Incorrect Questions: Shows the test’s questions along with an indicator of which questions were answered correctly or incorrectly.

For the first rule, an instructor will typically choose only Scores to display After Submission.

For the second rule, an instructor may choose to allow students to see what answers he/she missed. Choosing Score, Submitted Answers, and Show Incorrect Questions might be what you want to display After Availability End Date.

When the Score option is selected, the following information is displayed.

Choosing the Show Incorrect Questions option will display each question along with an indication of whether the students’ answers are correct or incorrect.

Score, Submitted Answers & Show Incorrect Questions

When the Submitted Answers and the Show Incorrect Questions options are selected, the questions and the students’ selected answers are displayed. An indicator shows whether the answer was correct or incorrect. The other answer choice options are not displayed here.

Score, All Answers, Correct, Submitted, Feedback, & Show Incorrect Questions (all options)

NOTE: Test options may be changed before, during, and after a test has been taken. Changing the option affects all students — not just ones who have taken the test.
